|Serbia claimed an important victory over Montenegro, moving to a 3-2 record.|
Serbia ended Montenegro's perfect record in Group B of the EuroBasket Women Qualification Round with a 72-56 victory.
The hosts finished strong in each half to pick up a big psychological victory as they improve to 3-2, while Montenegro drop to 4-1.
Having found themselves 16-15 down at end of the first quarter, Serbia scored the first 10 points of the second to go 25-16 up on Jelena Milovanovic's three-pointer.
The lead stood at seven, 31-24, at half-time, but Montenegro quickly drew level with Jelena Dubljevic's jump-shot capping a 7-0 run.
The visitors kept pace until late in the third quarter when a seven-point spurt from Serbia gave them a 47-41 edge.
Serbia then made sure in the final stanza, with a 9-1 run giving them a 64-49 lead on Sara Krnjic's free-throws with 46 ticks left.
Milica Dabovic led Serbia with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Tamara Radocaj added 16 and seven assists.
Iva Perovanovic scored 14 points and Snezana Aleksic and Milica Jovanovic added 11 each for Montenegro.
