Estonia got their promotion challenge off to the best possible start in Tallin after they tipped off this summers action in the second tier with a crushing 127-33 victory over Albania who suffered a nightmare return to the Division B action.
The hosts had far too much defensively for the Albania team who found themselves 21-0 down and took almost six minutes to register a first score. Things barely improved and in fact got a lot worse heading into the second half 65-13 behind.
The gulf in class was evident and it was a day when Estonia used the contest to fine-tune their game with harder match-ups on the horizon against the likes of Group B favourites Bosnia & Herzegovina.
All 12 players on the Estonia roster managed to find a score and the team dished up 33 assists as Albania were left either chasing shadows defensively or turning the ball over on offence - something they managed 29 times.
Valeria Kast racked up a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds while Gerly Kostla was most impressive since she managed to top score with 23 points despite playing less than 15 minutes.
No Albania player managed to reach double-digits although Rezarta Hoxhaj recorded 7 points and 7 rebounds.
