Latvia stunned Serbia with a lopsided 80-55 victory to seal their place at the EuroBasket Women Final Round next summer at the expense of their visitors.
Serbia started the day top of Group B, but after this blowout and Israel's victory over Romania, they found themselves tumbling down to third and the additional qualifying round.
The game was the tight battle that was expected throughout the first half, which finished 27-26, but Latvia exploded after the break as they poured in 53 points.
Kristine Karklina's three-pointer early in the third quarter set the tone and within four minutes they were up by 13, 44-31, on a Ieva Kublina three.
Serbia could not deal with Latvia's red-hot shooting and never got within single figures again.
Gunta Basko's 22 points and 11 rebounds led Latvia, who also got 18 points from Babkina and 12 from Zane Tamane.
Ivanka Matic led Serbia with 13 points.
Serbia Head Coach Miodrag Veskovic:
"Congratulations to the Latvian team and coaches for the victory. We have a new team, working together only two months, but anyway, I'm proud of my team and I hope that the future will become better."
Latvia Head Coach George Dikeolakos:
"These days the best Latvian news is that the team has qualified for the EuroBasket. If I am not mistaken, for the fourth time in a row. We have done that without [Anete] Jēkabsone-Žogota and [Ieva] Tāre. This once again proves that we are among the elite teams in the Europe.
After the loss in Serbia, together we talked about that more lose. It also did. Thanks to the fans for the excellent support."
