Turkey thrashed Bosnia and Herzegovina 79-50 on Wednesday for their sixth victory in seven games in qualifying to confirm their ticket to EuroBasket Women 2009 finals in Latvia.
Fenerbahce center Nevriye Yilmaz had 18 points for Turkey, who forced their Group B opponents to commit 27 turnovers.
The best player in that regard for Turkey was Nilay Yigit, who had seven of her team's 18 steals.
Defense has been the name of the game for the Turks this summer and Wednesday was no different.
Leading 18-16 at the end of the first quarter, Turkey held the Bosnians to just 11 points over the next 10 minutes in taking a 45-27 stranglehold on the contest.
The Bosnians managed to reduce the arrears to 45-31 with four straight points after the restart, only for Turkey to then outscore them 12-2 for a 57-33 lead.
Yigit finished with 12 points for the Turks.
Turkey were 19 of 26 at the free throw line compared to Bosnia's nine of 11.
Matea Tavic scored 12 points for Bosnia, who slumped to 1-6.
