GAME REPORTIf Germany experienced one of their proudest moments at last year's EuroBasket Women when upsetting the 2005 champions the Czech Republic in the Quarter-Final Qualifying Round, they are now living a nightmare. On Wednesday, for the fourth consecutive EuroBasket 2009 qualifying game, the Germans slumped to defeat with Lithuania beating them 80-44. The Lithuanians went on a 9-0 run to lead 16-4 and by half-time, victory was assured when the Baltic country had a 43-17 stranglehold on proceedings. Veteran guard Rima Valentiene had 15 points to pace the Lithuanians, who improved to 3-1 in Group A of Division A. All 11 of the players who saw action for the winners scored. Germany (0-4) got 17 points from Anne Breitreiner. |
