Greece's women's team may well have been inspired by their male counterparts before going into the first game of their EuroBasket Women qualifying campaign against Hungary.
Taking their cue from Greece's outstanding FIBA World Championship display against the USA, the women put together an impressive offensive display to beat Hungary 70-64.
Greece shot 54% from two-point range and a superb 85% from the three-point line (6/7).
In her debut with the senior team, Styliani Kaltsidou shot 3/3 on three-pointers for her nine points, while Dimitra Kalentzou and Evanthia Maltsi top scored with 14 points each.
The win is a tough one to swallow for Hungary, who suprisingly failed to qualify for EuroBasket Women 2005 in Turkey.
The Hungarians have three days to mull over the result before facing Belarus on Saturday.
Greece travel back home to play Bulgaria.
