Turkey, like Lithuania at 1-3, would make their second straight quarter-finals showing after never making it there in their previous five EuroBasket Women competitions. Last Time Out: Lithuania lost 75-67 against the Czech Republic while Turkey remained alive for the quarter-finals with a 76-63 victory over Germany.
Key Match-Up: Yasemin Horasan vs Agne Ciudariene- With the status of Turkey star Nevriye Yilmaz's sore back still in doubt, Horasan again will be Cem Akdag's main option in the low post.
X-Factor: Sandra Valuzyte- The scrappy Lithuanian guard showed her grit and determination against the Czech Republic with seven steals but struggled offensively, hitting just 2-of-11 of her shots. The Lithuanians will likely need her offensive output to knock off Turkey.
Key Stat: 24% - That is what Lithuania are shooting from three-point range in their past two losses to Latvia and Czech Republic.
Sounding Off: Lithuania coach Algirdas Paulauskas: “This will be a very important game for both teams. So look for it to be very tight and the key will be the rebounding.” |
