Career: INSEP (France-NF1, 1990-93), Valenciennes (France LFB, 1993-98), Bourges (France LFB, 1998-2000), Valenciennes (France LFB, 2000-05), Ekaterinburg (Russia-Superleague, 2005-07)
Sauret-Gillespie was the best player for France at last year’s World Championship in part because she did not have her two best years in Russia at Ekaterinburg and she has been really motivated when it comes to the National Team. Right now she is the heart of the team and the bridge between the generation of 2001 and the newer players. She is the team’s vocal leader, the one who takes charge in the locker room and will take things into her own hands on the court. Sauret-Gillespie is capable of playing either guard position and last year she led the team in three-pointers and assists. Mentally she is very strong, works hard and never fears an opponent. Basketball runs in the blood of this Charleville native whose father currently coaches the women’s team in Reims in France’s second division. Audrey’s brother Julien is a point guard for Boulazac, also in the French second division.
