When it comes to qualifying for next year's EuroBasket Women in Latvia, few teams will have as tough a journey to Riga as Bosnia and Herzegovina after being drawn against Turkey, Poland, Italy and Finland in their Division A qualifying games.
Zoran Mikes, the coach of the women's side, will soon have a good idea of what his players will be able to accomplish after gathering his preliminary squad in Zenica.
Mikes will be hoping that veteran Amra Mehmedic is able to practice, soon. She has shown up at training carrying an injury while Jelena Dangubic was a no-show and was likely to be replaced in the squad by Mladi Krajisnik's Martina Jazic.
Mehmedic was one of the country's top players last year, averaging almost 11 points and four rebounds while handing out three assists per game as they won promotion from Division B.
Bosnia-Herzegovina preliminary squad: Azra Becirovic, Lejla Bejtic, Aida Pilav, Milica Deura, Zdenka Kovacevic, Olja Stupar, Biljana Savic, Anja Stupar, Dragana Svitlica, Mirela Besic, Dijana Zepic, Marija Kovac, Zvjezdana Gagic, Matea Tavic, Elma Smajic and Sasa Cadjo.
