Maria Chiara Franchini

Career: Parma (Italy-A1, 1996-97), Valtarese (Italy-A2, 1997-98), Parma (Italy-A1, 1998-99), La Spezia (Italy-A1, 1999-2001), Parma (Italy-A1, 2001-02), Faenza (Italy-A1, 2002-08), Livorno (Italy-A1 2008-09 Parma (Italy-A1 2008-09)

It was once feared Franchini was too introverted to establish herself as a top level player but has since developed to a high level since 2007. Now back with her hometown club after a mid-season move from Livorno, she is technically good and her athleticism remains her main strength. Something highlighted by the fact that in her younger days she was named the "World Adidas Streetball Champion" in 1997 (Milan) and 1998 (Paris). Her perimeter quickness and ability to either make a shot or put the ball on the floor make her difficult to guard at times and that speed of foot and hand also comes in useful defensively when she comes up with some important stops.
