Bourges Storm Back For Victory
// 20 February 2007

Bourges Basket staged a stunning fourth-quarter comeback to clinch victory over TEO Vilnius and take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three EuroLeague Women quarter-final.

The French team were 49-42 behind going into the final 10 minutes but went on a 9-0 run at the start of the quarter to go in front at 51-49.

After seeing Bourges stretch their advantage to seven at 57-50, TEO regained their composure to make it a two-point game at 57-55.

But the hosts, inspired by center Emmeline Ndongue, controlled the pace of the final two minutes and ran out deserved winners.

Ndongue finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

She was helped along by guard Celine Dumerc, who was a constant menace and ended up with 10 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Greece forward Evanthia Maltsi had 12 points.

Guard Katie Douglas led TEO with 16 points while Milica Dabovic also had a decent 15-point haul.

It was nip and tuck throughout a tight first half. Bourges had a 16-15 lead at the end of the opening 10 minutes, but the visitors had edged ahead 33-29 by the half-time interval.

A poor-quality third quarter saw the Lithuanians pull clear 39-33 but a 6-0 run by the French side made it all square with 4:00 left.

TEO hit back and Ausra Bimbaite's three-pointer two minutes later put them in front 46-39, ahead of the nail-biting last quarter.

The second leg takes place in Lithuania on Friday.
