GAME REPORT
BOXSCORE
Dexia Rampant Against Halcon
// 10 January 2007

Dexia Namur claimed only their second win in nine attempts on Wednesday night after hammering Group B rivals Halcon Avenida 82-53.

Dexia, with Krystyna Szymanska-Lara in magnificent form, outscored the Spanish side in each of the four periods, although it was the latter stages of the second quarter that really defined the game.

The visitors led 17-6 midway through the first period, but they were unable to keep up that dominance as hosts Halcon hit back to reduce the difference to just two points by the end of the period at 23-21.

Halcon then scored the opening four points of the second period to take the lead, and they soon found themselves 31-27 ahead following a Nicole Ohlde jump shot.

But that merely inspired Dexia to step up a gear and they dominated the remainder of the quarter to establish a 44-35 lead at the midway stage.

The second half was all one-way traffic, with Dexia winning the two periods by a combined 38-18 margin.

The victory was enough to lift the Belgian outfit off the foot of the standings with a 2-7 record, moving above ZVVZ USK Prague (1-8).

Veteran guard Szymanska-Lara was undoubtedly the star of the show, pouring in 28 points and grabbing eight rebounds for the victors.

Katryna Gaither also stood out for Dexia with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and seven steals.

Halcon, for whom not one player scored in double-figures, remain in fourth spot, but now have lost six of their nine EuroLeague Women outings.
