Spain coach Vicente Rodriguez had two reasons to be happy after watching his troops beat Turkey on Tuesday.

The 75-74 win leaves Spain with six wins from their seven preparation games for the European Championships, which get underway in Greece in nine days.

More importantly is that Rodriguez was able to witness the definitive recovery of Laia Palau, who had to be taken to hospital during Saturday's defeat to Serbia and Montenegro following a collision with an opponent.

She sealed her return to full fitness by scoring the decisive basket in Spain's victory over the Turks 22 seconds from time.

Rodriguez will not have been happy with how his side surrendered an early advantage to the small, but quick Turkish team.

Spain raced to a 17-0 lead and took the first quarter 31-15, only to be rapidly pegged back 23-6 in the second to go in losing at half time.

From then on it the lead continually changed hands until Palau's moment of glory.
