While the point guard position remains the Russians’ biggest area of need, the name of their main distributor of the basketball is not a question.  Rakhmatulina is a selfless fighter and undisputed leader on and off the court.  Though she has always had the instincts of a scorer this 2006 FIBA Player of the Year nominee sacrificed her sniper’s ambitions for the sake of the National Team. But watch out because the 30-year-old remembers well how to shoot the rock (she was the team’s top-scorer in their recent upset of team USA at the 2006 World Championship). A  EuroBasket Women 2003 gold medalist, Rakhmatulina is eager to repeat the success in Italy.
