Jana Vesela

Career: .Sparta Praha (Czech Republic-ZBL, 2000-01), USK Praha (Czech Republic-ZBL, 2001-03), Gambrinus Brno (Czech Republic-ZBL, 2003-07)

A very athletic player who is effective under the basket and away from it, Vesela is a good compliment to the team’s scoring “machines” like Viteckova and Machova. Vesela is also an excellent defensive performer. The Prague native was the team’s best rebounder at EuroBasket Women 2005, grabbing 7.5 per game, and was second on the side to Kulichova in the FIBA World Championship 2006 at nearly seven per contest. Vesela finished her latest Czech league season with 12.2 ppg and 5.1 rpg. Barring the World Championship crown at senior level, she has won almost every other important title that there is, including gold with the Czech U19 team at the World Championships in 2001. Besides being passionate about basketball, the 24-year-old also has a reputation as an avid reader.
