| 19.05.2006 Spanish international Nuria Martinez will play next season for Russian giants Dynamo Moscow.
The 22-year-old point guard has turned down a contract extension with Perfumerias Avenida and instead opted to join compatriot Amaya Valdemoro in the Russian Superleague Women.
Valdemoro plays for Russian champions BC Volgaburmash.
"It's been a difficult decision," admitted Martinez.
Martinez, who captained the Salamanca team this season, was a key player as the side clinched the Spanish league crown and the Copa de la Reina.
Perfurmerias were desperate to retain her services as Martinez is one of the most promising players in the Spanish game.
Also leaving Perfumerias is Russian center Elena Tournikidou, who has departed for Spanish rivals Ros Casares.
There is good news for the Salamanca outfit. Perfumerias have signed center Laura Camps to an extension.
Meanwhile in Spain, Noemi Jordana has signed on for another season with Ros Casares.
The 25-year-old guard has played for the EuroLeague Women outfit in four previous seasons.
"I am very proud to be able to continue at Ros Casares," Jordana said.
"I've worked very hard this year. Sometimes things have gone better, and other times worse, but I've put in a lot of effort."
Jordana played in 12 EuroLeague Women games for Ros Casares and helped them reach the eighth-final play-offs, averaging just over six points per game.
Looking ahead to next year, she said: "I'm not sure which players are going to come, but I've heard there is going to be a very good team and I hope that we can go very far."
One of those players is Laia Palau, one of the biggest stars in Europe who for the last two seasons has played for Bourges.
"One thing that is very clear is that we need to win titles, not only for us but for the fans who for some time have deserved it," Jordana said.
Ros Casares also signed Polish native Malgorzata Dydek, who played this past season with UMMC Ekaterinburg. |
