USVO Much Too Good For Sopron
// 21 February 2006

US Valenciennes powered their way past MKB Euroleasing Sopron and are just one victory away from a return to the EuroLeague Women Final Four.

USVO won the competition in 2002 and 2004 and on Tuesday, they destroyed their opponents from Hungary 92-55.

As demolitions go, this one was complete by the end of the first quarter when the French giants led 36-16.

Sandra Le Drean opened USVO's account with a jump shot and then Kristi Harrower made a three-pointer for a 5-0 lead and they just kept the pressure on.

By halftime, the lead had ballooned to 56-32 and from that point on, it was a matter of damage limitation for the visitors.

Sandrine Gruda had 21 points, Harrower 18 and Slobodanka Tuvic 17 for USVO, who also got 14 points from Le Drean.

MKB host Game 2 on Friday but, judging from this result, they do not have much hope.
