USVO Too Strong For Schio
// 03 February 2006

US Valenciennes have entered familiar territory by clinching their second win in as many games this week against Famila Schio to reach the elite eight in the EuroLeague Women.

Champions in 2002 and more recently in 2004, USVO always seem to be hitting their stride this time of year.

They have certainly been one of the most consistent teams in Europe this season and, not surprisingly, Schio were no match for them over two legs, falling in the second at home 84-70.

Slobodanka Tuvic had 16 points and seven rebounds for USVO, while team-mate Sandrine Gruda weighed in with 15 and six, respectively.

Australian international Kristi Harrower had 12 points and four assists for USVO.

Schio's Penny Taylor, voted to the EuroLeague Women All Star Game and an international team-mate of Harrower's, had 16 points in defeat.

Harrower's three-pointer three minutes into the game gave USVO a 9-8 advantage and sparked a decisive 9-0 run.

Taylor did give Famila hope with a three-pointer at the end of the first period to trim the deficit to 24-20, but USVO went on a 15-2 run to start the second quarter and that all but sealed victory.
