Katie Douglas may have looked frustrated throughout her team´s 77-62 loss to USVO in the game for third place of the Final Four, but that does not take away from the overall positive experience the American has had in her second season with Lietuvos Telekomas.

Douglas, the leading scorer during the EuroLeague Women season, was terrific in defeat, scoring 30 points on 13-of-19 shooting from the field.

“It was obviously tough to come back from Friday´s loss,” Douglas said.

“They were bigger down low and wanted it more than us and unfortunately we weren´t up for the challenge.”

Katie Douglas and Lietuvos Telekomas Vilnius suffered a heart-breaking loss to Samara on Friday
Not shy to wear her heart on her sleeve, Douglas can often be seen in animated discussion with players, officials and even herself.

“I am very competitive and want to win. This hurts and is going to take some time for me to get over this.”

After a stint in Greece, Douglas is now playing in her second season with Lietuvos. Last year she led the team to a third place finish.

“This has been absolutely a terrific experience,” she said in reflection.

“The team has welcomed me as part of the family and has treated me great.”

She will be with Lietuvos for the next two years and her goal is nothing short of winning the EuroLeague Women title.

“I want to continue to grow and learn and do it better next year. And I want to raise the (EuroLeague Women) trophy.”

The left-handed sharpshooter has the luxury of playing in front of passionate fans, many of whom made the trip from Lithuania to Brno for the Final Four.

As the game concluded, Douglas and her teammates walked into the corner of the court closest to Lietuvos´ fans to wave and blow kisses to their faithful supporters.

“It´s great to be in a country where they love basketball. Basketball is a second religion in Lithuania.  Women´s basketball is new, but growing and I am happy to be a part of it.”
