CSKA Samara didn’t win the EuroLeague Women Final Four, but don’t fault Amaya Valdemoro for that.

The Spanish international was brilliant in the Final Four, capped by a 23-point haul in her side’s 68-59 triumph over Bourges in the third-place game.

“I love playing in these types of games,” said Valdemoro.

“I only won one EuroLeague Women and that is back when I was 17 years old (1993 with Dorna Godella) and I only played like two minutes. Since then I have been in three other Final Fours, but never won. I give everything to win a EuroLeague title.”

Valdemoro also played in the 1998 Final Four with Poll Getafe and then with CSKA Volgaburmash last season.

She scored 26 in CSKA’s loss to Spartak on Friday, her season-high in the EuroLeague Women.

“Unfortunately it didn’t work out for us this year. Two great teams played and Spartak did a better job. We made a lot of mistakes. You can’t win with 27 turnovers. But it is better to finish with a win.”

Valdemoro still has her aim on the ultimate prize – a EuroLeague Women title.

“We’ll have almost the same team back again next year and I am sure we’ll be fighting for the EuroLeague Women title again.”
