|Anastasiya Verameyenka was on fire Fenerbahce on Wednesday, achieving a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double|
Anastasiya Verameyneka produced a stellar double-double for Fenerbahce as they cruised to an 82-68 Group B success against Famila Schio who have now lost four of their last five games.
The 25-year-old from Belarus has enjoyed a terrific first season in Istanbul and her red-hot form continued in the final game of the regular season as she posted 20 points and 10 rebounds on the back of 9-for-12 floor shooting to put Schio to the sword.
The writing was on the wall for the Italian club after the opening ten minutes when Fener doubled the points tally of the visitors at 22-11, and it got worse moments later for the visitors as a score by Ieva Kublina made it 27-13.
However, this proved to be the calm before the storm which Fener served up during the third quarter, putting their foot on the accelerator as Verameyenka ended any hopes of a potential fight back by making it 61-37.
The tail wagged for Schio during the last period when they outscored their hosts 29-19, but it was too little, too late.
In addition to the excellent work of Verameyenka, there were a number of other notable contributions particularly that from Cappie Pondexter who had 14 points and six assists.
Laura Macchi and Jantel Lavender both racked up 15 points for the losing team.
Fenerbahce coach Roberto Iniquez
"We played well. Congratulatıons to my players. We were good on offensive and defensıve rebounding. We knew how good Schio are so we were wary of them."
Fenerbahce player Esmeral Tuncluer
"We played well. I am happy to wın this game as we lost against them previously."
Famila Schio coach Maurizio Lasi
"We know Fenerbahce have a great roster. They are much more organised than us. We will now look towards the playoffs and continue to work hard."
Famila Schio coach Kathy Wambe
"We lost because we played bad. We are a good team but today Fenerbahce played better than us."
