Polish champions CCC Polkowice have announced that Spanish veteran Elisa Aguilar will not be joining them after all and have reacted by securing the services of Lithuanian Ausra Bimbaite.
Aguilar had inked a deal earlier in the summer to play with Polkowice during the forthcoming EuroLeagueWomen campaign, having helped Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje reach the Final Eight last season.
But, she will now remain in her homeland having decided to opt for a position with the Spanish Basketball Federation instead.
Aguilar retired from a glittering national team career on a real high, only a couple of months ago when she signed off with a EuroBasket Women winners medal.
The 37-year-old previously played in EuroLeague Women with the likes of Rivas Ecopolis and Ros Casares.
Aguilar is yet to reveal whether she will continue to play with another club instead of CCC Polkowice.
Bimbaite has spent the bulk of her career competing in Lithuania where she represented VICI Aistes and most recently has played in Russia with Dynamo Kursk.
She averaged 11 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in EuroCup Women last season and 5.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in the Russian League.
