Sparta&K Moscow Region guaranteed themselves top spot in EuroLeague Women Group C for another week after a blowout triumph over Frisco Brno on Wednesday.
The Russian giants, winners of the EuroLeague Women in 2007, '08, '09 and '10, prevailed 97-62 for their sixth victory in eight games.
They swept both games against Brno, winning the first, 87-70, in the opening week of the EuroLeague Women back on October 12.
If ever there were a first-quarter knockout, Wednesday's game had it in Vidnoje.
Pokey Chatman's team held Brno to just four points in the opening eight minutes and 25 seconds and led by 26.
The Sparta&K advantage was 33-7 at the end of the frame and the hosts cruised the rest of the way.
Candice Dupree had 10 of her game-high 25 points in the first quarter.
She also pulled down six of her seven rebounds in the period.
When the game came to a merciful conclusion for Brno, the Czech team had been out-rebounded, 48-30.
Jan Bobrovsky's side slumped to 1-7 with the setback.
Sparta&K head coach Pokey Chatman:
"I am very happy because we had a solid performance on both sides of the court. I am also satisfied because after some games where we struggled on the floor we had a good shooting performance by our players. We have to continue working hard in order to achieve our goals."
Sparta&K forward Candice Dupree:
"We did what we were asked to do and what we had practiced these days. We played good defense, we ran the floor well and finally we executed our plays. While we should be satisfied with our performance we should continue working hard."
Brno head coach Jan Dobrovsky:
"We had a very bad first quarter and our players were not able to recover. Sparta&K played well but they were able to use all their players mainly because our players never reached anywhere close to prior performances. They are young but still I expected them to react better."
Brno player Romana Stehlikova:
"We were lazy and we never played anywhere close to our potentials. Sparta&k came out strong and we never reacted to their game. We have proven we can do better and I am sure we will have better games in the future."
