Gorzow have only a slender chance of reaching the EuroLeague Women play-offs after falling 71-64 in overtime at Frisco Sika Brno on Wednesday evening.
Without their leading player, Belarus center Yelena Leunchanka, Gorzow (2-6) slipped to the Group D defeat against the Czechs who got 20 points and 20 rebounds from Cheryl Ford.
The basketball gods looked to be smiling on Gorzow when their Polish international Agnieszka Skobel hit a three-pointer with six seconds left to tie the game at 58-58 and force the extra period.
Two Alena Hanusová free-throws and a jump shot by Ford put the hosts into a four-point lead at the start of overtime, though, and they stayed in front the rest of the way.
Justyna Zurowska finished with 17 points and nine rebounds for Gorzow.
The Polish club hosts Ros Casares (6-2) next week and then finish at Nadezhda (4-4) - a team they beat earlier in the season.
Victory for Brno was their second in eight games this season.
Jan Bobrovsky, coach of Frisco Sika Brno:
"I've been unable to explain what our players learned from previous failures. In the first half-hour the game looked as a fight for dear life. I have not seen from us so weak performance - in any game. In offence the players did not believe in themselves. Eldebrink, who is a shooter, could not score any points in the first period. In the end of the game we led by three points and let our rivals to even the shot for three points. I'm glad we won."
Dariusz Maciejewski, coach of Gorzów:
"Our performance was very bad. I believed that we came here to win. But we lost this match ourselves, because we played bad under the basket. Ford had twenty rebounds. We kept a balanced game, we lost only because of the rebounding."
