Beretta-Famila Schio crushed Frisco Sika Brno 89-44 to get off the mark in EuroLeague Women Group D.
|Raffaella Masciadri topped all scorers with 17 in a one-sided contest|
In a thoroughly one-sided game, Schio had pulled 42-26 ahead by half-time and just kept going.
They showed absolutely no mercy, as evidenced by a third-quarter run that saw them turn a 48-30 advantage into 67-32 lead early in the fourth period.
There is little in the boxscore that will cheer the new-look Brno as they were outrebounded 42-32 and committed 18 turnovers.
The visitors shot only 13-of-48 (27%) from two-point range and two-of-11 (18.1%) from three-point land in a miserable night.
In contrast, Schio could not stop scoring, making 30-of-49 (61.2%) from two-point range and eight-of-18 (44.4%) from beyond.
Raffaella Masciandri led five Schio players with 17 points as Laura Macchi added 16 and Janel McCarville had 15.
Louice Halvarsson's 12 points led Brno, while new signing Cheryl Ford chipped in with 10.
Schio power forward Janel McCarville:
"The game ran as we prepared during week practice. Brno came out strong and the played very well at the beginning of the game. We had a great reaction, eliminating things they wanted to do. We're having a good progress."
Schio Head Coach Sandro Orlando:
"We played a good game, defending very well and with effective offensive choices. Schio is growing game after game but we still need to work to get better"
Brno Assistent coach Vlastimil Havlik:
"Brno is a very young team with no great experience. Schio played very hard but we hope to progress day by day."
Brno guard Jelena Skerovic:
"We started as we wanted to but then we missed too many shots and Schio came out strong. This is only the first match in EuroLeague, I think we will play better in the next match."
