| 02.02.2011 EuroLeague Women | | Tina Charles was unstoppable all night for Nadezhda as they took Wisla into overtime |
What a fight it was on Tuesday evening in Krakow as Wisla needed overtime to beat Nadezhda, who had scored the last 12 points in regulation but could not hold on to that run in the extra period. Tina Charles, who scored 6 of her 24 points during this run over the last 4 minutes, was the main reason that Nadezhda almost sprung a major upset on Game Day One of the EuroLeague Women Eighth-Final Play-Offs. Her outstanding overall performance earned her the Player of the Round award, already her second award after being named Player of the Week on Game day nine of the regular season. The 22 year old reigning World Champion made it a double-double with 12 assists and even dished out a remarkable five assists. While only turning the ball over twice in 43 minutes of action, she swatted away 4 shots and came up with 3 steals. The 1.93m center shot a more than solid 10 of 17 from the field and stayed perfect from the foul line in her four attempts, which accumulated in an efficiency of 39. Nadezhda's transformation into a serious threat for any opponent is largely due to the performance of the EuroLeague Women rookie. She leads the league in double-doubles (9 out of 11 possible games) and defensive rebounds (9.8) and is fourth in scoring (19.0). Charles was followed by Nevriye Yilmaz who had an accumulated efficiency of 28 in Fenerbhce's win over Galatasaray and new Kosice signing Chrystal Langhorn in the tight loss against Bourges in France who finished with 26.
