Rivas Ecópolis survived a late comeback by KSSSE AZS-PWSZ Gorzow to remain undefeated in the EuroLeague Women on Wednesday.
The Spanish side prevailed 82-79.
Anna Cruz had a game-high 19 points for Rivas, who have won six consecutive games to start to the season.
Two of the triumphs have come against fellow newcomers Gorzow.
The game was knotted at 45-45 when Cruz hit a jump shot and made two straight free-throws for a 49-45 lead.
They stayed on top for the remainder of the game but weren't able to pull away for a decisive triumph.
Having trailed by as many as 11 in the third quarter, Gorzow were still facing a 74-65 deficit in the fourth period when their American star Sidney Spencer drilled a three-pointer.
That triggered a 7-0 run that closed the gap to 74-72 with 2:12 to go.
Catherine Joens answered with a three-ball for Rivas as they held the Polish team at bay.
Jelena Dubljevic had 15 points for Rivas, who got 12 points and 10 rebounds from Crystal Langhorne.
Spencer and Yuliya Dureika each had 17 points in defeat for Gorzow, who fell to 1-5 in Group C.
Javier Fort, Rivas Coach:
"We expected a difficult game. The place in table does not show the class of the team from Gorzow. In first half Gorzow killed us under the basket, we lost a lot of offensive rebounds. The change of game in defence was to our victory the key."
Dariusz Maciejewski, KSSSE Coach:
"Every loss hurts, and the close ones hurt the most. This defeat was my fault."
