MKB Euroleasing Sopron edged Gambrinus Sika Brno 68-65 in EuroLeague Women Group B on Wednesday evening.
Kathleen MacLeod spearheaded the offensive effort for MKB with 17 points while Jelena Milovanovic chipped in 13 and Dóra Horti 12.
Gambrinus had their noses in front late in the third quarter at 44-41.
That's when MacLeod hit one of her biggest shots of the game, a three-pointer to level the contest.
Amber Holt followed with a shot from behind the arc as well and Tijana Krivacevic added a jump shot to make it 49-44 in favor of the home side at the end of the third quarter.
The closest the Czechs would get the rest of the way came nearly three minutes into the final quarter when Tamika Whitmore hit a jumper to close the gap to 52-50.
Milovanovic replied with a three-ball and Holt made a lay-up for a seven-point advantage.
Every time Gambrinus drew closer, Sopron had an answer.
With 4:10 remaining, Zuzana Zirkova sank a pair of free throws to cut the home side's lead to 60-57, but MacLeod went to the other end and nailed a three and Horti added a lay-up the next trip down the floor to go in front by eight.
The Hungarian club dominated the boards, out-rebounding Gambrinus 40-26.
Milovanovic finished with a game-high 10 rebounds for the winners.
Hana Horakova and Eva Viteckova each scored 13 points for Gambrinus, with Liene Jansone contributing 12 and Zirkova nine along with seven boards.
