UMMC Ekaterinburg took a while to get going at Union Hainaut Basket in EuroLeague Women Group C on Thursday but once they did, there was no stopping them.
Leading just 42-40 with 7:21 remaining after a three-pointer by Union Hainaut's Vedrana Grgin Fonseca, Laurent Buffard's team finally came to life in the city of Valenciennes where he once coached.
Ex-USVO center Sandrine Gruda made a lay-up and when Union Hainaut's French international Sabrina Reghaissia missed an attempt from three-point range, Asjha Jones scored down low.
Mudju Ngoyisa replied with a lay-up for Union Hainaut, but Poland national team star Agnieszka Bibrzycka followed with a three-ball and then Jones scored again for a 52-42 lead.
Union Hainaut tried to stay within touch but Ekaterinburg had too much class and too many weapons.
They pulled away for an 85-65 triumph to remain undefeated. Ekaterinburg and Group B leaders Umana Reyer Venezia are the only sides still unbeaten at 5-0.
Bibrzycka poured in 23 points to lead Ekaterinburg, including a seven-of-11 effort from long range.
New signing Maria Stepanova, Russia's most famous player who joined last week from her long-time club CSKA Moscow, scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds in under 13 minutes.
Mudju Ngoyisa finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for the French team, who dropped to 2-3.
