There aren't too many frowns in Salamanca these days when it comes to basketball.
Halcon Avenida have not only advanced to the EuroLeague Women Final Four, but the city is going to host the prestigious event.
The semi-finals will be staged on Friday, April 3, and the final and third-place game will be contested two days later.
Salamanca mayor Julian Lanzarote said: "It´s going to be the biggest sporting event that this city has hosted. Not even the oldest people in the city remember a similar event."
Avenida caught most teams by surprise this season.
They finished second in Qualifying Round Group A to Bourges, with both sides boasting 7-3 records.
Avenida then knocked off CSKA Moscow in a thrilling Eighth-Finals tie, which included a dramatic double overtime triumph in Salamanca in the deciding Game 3.
In the Quarter-Finals, Avenida swept MiZo Pecs of Hungary in two games.
Because of their intense fan support, few will bet against them when Avenida run onto the floor to face MKB Euroleasing Sopron on April 3.
