Ciudad Ros Casares used a balanced attack and were never threatened in grabbing a 77-61 victory at USO Basket to open their EuroLeague Women Group D play at 2-0.
The finalists from last season were led by 14 points from Evanthia Maltsi while DeLisha Milton-Jones added 13 and Spain international guard Elisa Aguilar scored 11.
Manolo Real's team used a 19-2 run - spurred on by three three-pointers from Aguilar - to pull away early and never looked back.
Naura El Gargati did all she could for the French side, collecting 21 points and 14 rebounds, but Olivier Hirsch's team was just not deep enough. Pauline Jannualt had 15 points and Jennifer Digbeu scored 14 - with the remaining players chipping in just 11 points.
USO dropped to 0-2 in Group D.
The French side opened the game strongly, especially Digbeu, who had nine points in helping USO build a 14-10 lead.
The score was 16-14 after one period and Digbeu made it 18-14 to start the second. But that's when Aguilar started to light up the French defense, hitting three long-range shots in a 19-2 surge for a 33-20 Casares lead.
The Spanish pushed the cushion to 14 points before leading 40-28 at the break.
And they continued their dominance in the second half, forcing six turnovers in going on a 13-2 run for a 53-30 advantage. The lead grew to 24 but was back to 17 points before Casares led 62-44 after three quarters.
Aguilar and Maltshi combined for the first five points of the final period and USO never got closer than 14 the rest of the way.
