Lotos PKO BP Gdynia moved off the bottom of EuroLeague Women Group C on Thursday courtesy of an 87-77 victory over Dexia Mons-Hainaut.

Both sides headed into the contest on 1-2 records but it was the Polish side who improved their standing - thanks in the main to a 21-point haul

The Belgian visitors edged the first period 20-19 but had been pegged back to 42-42 by the midway point - despite having at one stage in the second quarter established an eight-point cushion.

The third quarter was the decisive one as the hosts stormed into a 70-60 lead.

Lotos PKO BP stretched their advantage to 15 points during the fourth period and, although Dexia managed to peg them back, they could not get back into the game.

Kimberley Anne Smith contributed 16 points in a losing cause for Dexia and Jennifer Fleischer managed 15.

The result sees Lotos PKO BP climb to third in the four-team standings while Dexia lie second from bottom.
