Albena Branzova’s inspired game against Bourges in the EuroLeague Women earns her this week’s MVP award.

The Pecs center, who hails from Bulgaria, has been consistently one of the most efficient scorers in the competition this season.

Although her numbers may not be among the leaders (she is averaging 12 ppg), she is shooting 64% from the field, including 60% from behind the three-point line.

Pecs’ game against French powerhouse Bourges was a crucial test for both sides, with the winner claiming dominance and the top spot in Group B.

It was Branzova who produced the key performance in Pecs’ 80-60 victory. She was unstoppable from the floor the whole evening, scoring 24 points and hitting 9/10 field goal attempts.

Branzova was particularly lethal in the first quarter when she hit 10 points. By halftime she had 17 and Pecs had the game in the bag.

The home side really put Bourges away in the third. Branzova scored 7 of her side’s opening 9 points and with the score at 52-33, Bourges were forced to take a timeout in an effort to stop the onslaught.

It proved in vain, however, as Pecs easily held on to their advantage. The victory sees them in top spot in the group with a 9-1 record.
