Mondeville Pull Away From Schio In Third Quarter
// 02.11.2006

USA Mondeville Basket finally put away Famila Basket 85-67 in Schio on Thursday to underline their status as one of France's top sides.

With Bourges and US Valenciennes boasting incredible traditions in the domestic competitions, and Europe, Mondeville would love to steal some  of the limelight.

They trailed 19-12 early on but levelled the scores with a 7-0 run that was capped by Amélie Pochet's lay-up in the second quarter.

Beathny Donaphin put Famila briefly back in front with a pair of free throws, but a 6-0 run that was finished by an Ieva Kublina lay-up saw the Italians take the lead for good.

The hosts did battle, and when Mudju Ngoyisa scored on a lay-up 1:45 into the second half, they trailed only 38-35.

Kublina replied with a lay-up that started an 8-2 which seized control for the visitors for good.

Hamchetou Maiga led Mondeville's balanced scoring attack with 18 points.

Candace Futrell and Kublina each had 17 while Caroline Aubert poured in 14 and Pochet 12.

For the Italian team, Raffaella Masciadri scored a game-high 21 in defeat.

Kublina, a Latvian, was a workhorse. She had 10 of her team's 38 rebounds.
