Cathrine Kraayeveld was a top-notch player for Good Angels Kosice two seasons ago when she averaged 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in the EuroLeague Women. Just about to begin her second stint in Europe's elite club competition, Kraayeveld has been told she wasn't playing up to the lofty standards the club expected and as a consequence has been released. Good Angels have replaced Kraayeveld with Charde Houston, an outstanding talent that spent last season with EuroLeague Women clubs USK Prague and Tarbes. General manager Daniel Jendrichovsky said the player had not been performing as he and the coaching staff had hoped she would. "From the WNBA players," he said, "we are expecting much more." Kraayeveld averaged more than 21 minutes per game this summer for the Chicago Sky in the WNBA, scoring 5.2 points and pulling down 2.7 rebounds per contest. Houston, 24, played the majority of the 2009-10 EuroLeague Women campaign with Tarbes and averaged 16.2 points and 6.1 rebounds. She played in 34 games this summer with the Minnesota Lynx, finishing with numbers of 11.8 points and 4.10 rebounds. Kosice have confirmed her arrival on their website. Good Angels' first EuroLeague Women game is on October 28 at Cras Basket Taranto. |
