Australia's Penny Taylor had her best game of the EuroLeague Women campaign but it wasn't enough for Famila Schio on Wednesday night as the Italian team lost 74-69 at home to Gambrinus Sika Brno.

Taylor had 21 points and 13 rebounds and Famila out-rebounded the Czech giants 33-24 but the visitors pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Gambrinus went in front by as many as 12 points in the final period when Zuzana Zirkova buried a jump shot with 3:08 remaining.

The basket, two of Slovakian international Zirkova's team-high 17 points, gave her side a 70-58 advantage.

After a Federica Ciampoli basket and a pair of Taylor free throws cut the deficit to 70-62 with 2:22 remaining, Zirkova put an exclamation point on her performance with a three-pointer to restore an 11-point lead at the 2:02 mark.

The Czech team marched to victory.

Gambrinus, who have now won seven of their eight games, host UMMC Ekaterinburg in their next game on January 11.

Famila will travel to Lotos Gdynia on January 12, and they will be desperate for a win.

Wednesday's setback leaves them with a 1-7 record and propping up the Group B table.

The way they played at times, it was hard to believe they have been the worst team in that group this season.

When Famila closed to 54-52 with 9:54 to play in the game, it was anybody's game.

But Czech guard Hana Machova and Jana Vesela responded with baskets for a 58-52 advantage.

Nearly two minutes expired before points were scored again, and once it was the visitors doing the honours with Alena Kovacova sinking a jump shot.

Zirkova came next, and when jumper fell through the rim with 6:33 remaining, Gambrinus had a 62-52 lead.

They maintained a comfortable advantage the rest of the way.
