| 08.03.2005 Stepan Mandys Gambrinus Brno are flying high in the Czech League ahead of their EuroLeague Women Final Four encounter with Gdynia next week.
The Czech champions are undefeated in domestic league action, extending their record to 22-0 at the weekend with a 99-49 win over the fourth-placed Sokol VČP Hradec Králové.
FIBA Europe Cup Women participants USK Blex Praha and BK Loko Trunov occupy second and their places respectively.
The match-up with Gdynia will give Brno the chance to exorcise the demons of last year's final four. On that occasion, the 2 sides met in the semi-final and in a scrappy game, Gdynia won 57-52 to reach their second final in 2 years.
Brno have made the final four 4 times in the last 5 seasons, but have yet to get past the semi-final stage.
The Czech side posted a 10-2 record in the preliminary round, while Gdynia went 9-2. Game 1 will be played on 15th March in Brno. |
