Barcelona lose the second in a row on the road as they go down to an impressive Euroleasing Orsi Sopron 63-88 tonight.
From the start both teams showed a high tempo and tried to score easy points from fast breaks.
Barcelona's Tracy Reid played very well in the first minutes and gave a little advantage to her team. But Sopron took back the advantage when last week's MVP, Gordana Kovacevic, hit a triple. The Spanish team still won the quarter 19-24.
|Sopron's fans were a big factor in their team's win|
Sopron took over the control in the second quarter and simply overran Barcelona. Every player on the Hungarian team contributed to the game from this point, Barcelona just had Reid, who showed some danger to the basket.
But no one could match Russian centre Oxana Zakalyuzhnaya (Sopron). She ruled the baskets on both sides and collected 15 rebounds. Euroleasing Orsi was up by 6 at the half.
The 3rd quarter was heaven for Sopron and hell for Barcelona. Sopron's defense was almost perfect and this resulted in a lot of easy fast-breaks for the Hungarians.
The Spanish team just scored 5 points in the entire third quarter, to 25 from Sopron. The fans at the arena went absolutely bonkers and raised while cheering "Ole-ole-ole" with applause.
At the last quarter Barcelona tried everything to make the score look nicer but they only had a few good minutes.
Sopron simply couldn't lose this game and made an other big step towards the playoffs.
MVP of the game: Oxana Zakalyuzhnaya (26 points, 15 rebounds, 5 steals)
