Tickets for the U16 European Championship in Ukraine will go on sale on Thursday, the local organisers (LOC) announced in a press conference.

Fans will be able to purchase the tickets online via http://u16men.ticketforevent.com/ or buy them directly at the box office of Kyiv's Sports Palace (Palats Sportu, Kyiv, 1, Sportyvna square).

Tickets will be valid per game day and court, with prices ranging from 50 UAH (approximately 5 EUR) for the group stage to 100 UAH (approximately 10 EUR) for the final. For the classification games for places 9-16, tickets will be available at 20 UAH (approximately 2 EUR).

The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Oleksandr Vilkul, Tournament Director Markiyan Lubkivskyy and Ukrainian U16 national team coach Vitaly Usenko were present at the press conference, introducing the ticket design and the ticketing concept.

Vilkul stressed the social responsibility of the event, pointing out that the event will not only help to popularise basketball in Ukraine, but also to introduce young people to a sporty lifestyle and awaken interest in foreign languages and cultures.

"The government appealed to the LOC and the FIBA Europe to form such a pricing policy for the ticket sales so that all segments of the society can visit the matches," he stated.

"It will be useful and interesting for children, who are learning foreign languages, to support the team from that country and to communicate with their peers. The U16 European Championship will be an incentive to attract young people to a healthy lifestyle."

Both Lubkivskyy and Usenko hope that fans will take advantage of the flexible ticket system to fill the stands and support Europe's future basketball stars.

Head Coach Usenko is certain that a full arena will further boost his players' motivation to leave a lasting impression.

"Our boys are training very hard right now; they know that the whole country will be watching them," he said.

"For our young basketball players the support of the public is an extra incentive to win. I encourage all Ukrainians and visitors to the capital to come and support the Ukrainian national team at the European Championship."

The U16 European Championship will be held from 8-18 August 2013. Further information on the tickets can be found here.
