18.08.2006

Tomislav Zubcic had his best game of the tournament with 23 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks as Croatia defeated Israel 81-57 at the Termosteps U16 European Championship in Spain.

With the win, Croatia clinched second place in Group E with a 2-1 record and earned a place in the semi-finals.

Zubcic, whose previous high for points was 14 and blocks was one, keyed Croatia’s early run and they never looked back en route to the easy win.

He scored 12 of his 23 points in the first quarter and his jump shot with 3:04 to go in the quarter gave the Croatians a commanding 23-4 lead.

Croatia would maintain a double-digit lead for most of the next three quarters and then blew game wide open by outscoring Israel 24-14 in the fourth quarter.
