LNB’s French MVP Goes To Traore; Greer Top Overseas Man

18.05.2010

Players want to be running up and down the floor with their clubs this time of the year in the play-offs.

With ASVEL not in the post-season, though, their big man Ali Traore will have to console himself with the French MVP award in the LNB for 2009-10.

France international Traore finished ahead of Vichy's Dounia Issa and Gravelines-Dunkerque's Cyril Akpomedah in the voting by journalists, team captains and coaches from Pro A and Pro B.

He led his countrymen with an average of 15.6 points per contest.

Traore, who played an average of 12 minutes per game at last year's EuroBasket in Poland, was the second best scorer per minute among Frenchmen at (0.65).

ASVEL did not finish the season empty-handed.

Traore, 25, helped his club win the Semaine des As to qualify the team for next season's EuroChallenge.

The 2.05m power forward/center is expected to play for France this summer at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey.

His presence this summer will be even more crucial after the announcement that France center Ronny Turiaf will not play because of injuries when Les Bleus go up against Spain, Lithuania, Lebanon, New Zealand and Canada in their Preliminary Round Group D games.

Meanwhile, Nancy's Ricardo Greer was voted as the overseas MVP of 2009-10 in the LNB.

Seventh in the league in scoring at 15.9 points per game, he was third in rebounding (8.6), fourth in assists (6.03) and fifth in steals ( 1.9).

He beat out 207 MVP Dewarick Spencer of Le Mans and Roanne star Uche Nsonwu-Amadi to the award.
