Russia Secure Fifth Spot

The final standings of the Omnitel U16 European Championship are close to being set with only the two medal games still to be decided.

Earlier Russia beat Croatia 83-79 to win the fifth place game behind 24 points by Ivan Vadeev while the shooter Matej Buovac scored 21 for the losing side.

France stopped Turkey with a 79-66 with after a great first quarter start to take the seventh spot match. William Howard scored 16 for France and shooter Ozgur Sahin scored 17 for the losing side.

Latvia kept Montenegro behind 76-69 to reach the ninth place in the standings, while Germany edged Italy 55-53 to finish in 11th place.

Israel's perfect 3-0 record in the Classification Round bestowed them the 13th spot, Greece is 14th and the last two teams - Ukraine and Czech Republic, will play the Division B games next year.
