Lithuania made a big step towards the top four with a 66-52 win over Serbia in Group E of the Qualifying Round of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Men.
This win is worth a 4-0 record for the winners while Serbia dropped to 1-3 to stay fourth in the group's standings.
Vytenis Cizauskas led Lithuania with 22 points and Jonas Valanciunas had a big day with 14 points, 19 rebounds and five blocks.
Strahinja Mladenovic led Serbia with 18 points, and he was the only Serbian player in double-digits.
"We expected a difficult match against Serbia, but our strong start in the first half made it a little bit easier," said the winning coach Kazys Maksvytis.
"It wasn't a good shooting day for us," he said regarding his team's two out of 18 ratio from long range, "but that was one of the reasons they managed to come back.
"Maybe we also lost some focus but eventually we got the win."
The final score is cheating a little, as Lithuania was the king of the castle from tip off to buzzer.
Even a nine minutes drought by Lithuania wasn't enough for Serbia to move closer than nine points, but that was too late to make a difference.
Cizauskas showed his dominance right from the start.
Lithuania held a 21-13 lead after ten minutes and already by then he had 14 points, one more than the entire Serbian team.
His show continued in the second period, while Valanciunas was showing his presence in the paint, and Lithuania climbed to a 41-19 half time lead.
Cizauskas had by then 18.
Lithuania continued to smash, reaching a 28 point difference two minutes inside the break, 50-22.
When the difference stood on 56-29 Lithuania lost their rhythm and renewed it only when Rimvydas Brencius hit from long range to make it 59-46.
Serbia still used their momentum to cut off some points, but couldn't put the win in danger and will settle for a tournament without a medal.
Lithuania will face the Czech Republic tomorrow in a game that will decide at least semi-final spot while Serbia will take on Ukraine to secure their 5-8 games clearance.
