Germany, Montenegro and Slovenia all remained undefeated at the U16 European Championship for Men Division B on Monday in Sarajevo. The Germans (4-0) stormed out to a 29-9 lead against Estonia (2-2) and won their Group A meeting, 72-51. Sebastian Fülle had 15 points to lead a balanced German attack. In the same pool, Harm Loontiens scored 12 points as Belgium (3-1) wore out winless Luxembourg 75-34, while Vitali Liutych had 31 points and 12 boards as Belarus (2-2) defeated Slovakia 81-61. Nemanja Djurisic poured in 22 points for Montenegro (4-0), who were 85-68 winners over Iceland (1-3). Tournament hosts Bosnia-Herzegovina (3-1) got 15 points from Ranko Ivic and scraped an 86-80 triumph over Austria. Denmark (1-3) cruised to an 84-67 success against the Netherlands, who fell to 1-3. In Group C, Slovenia (4-0) claimed a 79-70 triumph over Bulgaria (3-1) with Jure Besedic and Jaka Brodnik each scoring 14 points. England (2-2) piled on the misery for Romania (1-3), prevailing 65-35. Switzerland (2-2) also had too much class for Cyprus (0-4) in a 63-40 rout. Finland and FYR Macedonia were decisive winners in Group D. The Finns improved to 3-1 win a 69-43 victory over Portugal (0-3) and the Macedonians (2-1) rolled to a 79-58 win against Ireland (0-3). Sweden are 3-0 in Group D. They had Monday off. |
