Team 2010-11: Kentucky (USA-NCAA) Career: Fenerbahce (Turkey-TBL, 2008-09), Stoneridge Preparatory (USA, 2009-10), Kentucky (USA-NCAA, 2010-11)
Undeniably the most exciting prospect of the new Turkish generation, Enes Kanter is something of a phenomenon already despite having barely played at a competitive level other than for his country at youth level and a handful of games for Fenerbahce. Having stepped out in the Turkish League as a young player it was something that eventually cost him the chance to play in the NCAA last season with Kentucky. He was ruled ineligible and spent the season sat in frustration and unable to get onto the court. Despite the lack of competitive action, his monstrous performances at youth level including his stellar MVP display in Metz in 2009 at the U18 European Championship Men when he claimed 18.6 points and 16.4 rebounds per game are still enough to suggest he could play at EuroBasket 2011. Never before has there been a player in the NBA draft who has played so little and yet caused such a stir. His size, mobility, range, soft hands, finishing, rebounding and wingspan are just a few reasons there is such a clamour for his services and all attributes the senior National Team could potentially benefit from. |
