19.08.2006

Ricard Rubio recorded his second triple-double of the competition and Alberto Jodar scored 33 points as Spain blew Croatia away 106-82 to reach the final of the Termosteps U16 European Championship against Russia.

Rubio, who has been the main man for the Spanish throughout the tournament, scored 19, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 13 assists.

Jodar was the main beneficiary of Rubio's offensive strength, scoring 33 points and adding eight rebounds.

Croatia were left trailing in their opponents beginning in the first quarter, going down by half as many points (19-38) to Spain.

Croatia were led by Luka Mijalic, who scored a team-high 21 points.

He was backed up by Mario Delas, whose productive game of 17 points and six rebounds was curtailed after being fouled out.

Spain did most of their damage in the opening period and never faced a serious threat from the Croatians after the dominant opening performance.
