Turkey gained a decisive edge against Spain midway through the second half to win 88-83 and reach the final of the U16 European Championship Men.

Leading 56-55 with one minute and four seconds remaining in the third quarter, Turkey went on a 10-2 run to take command, Ibrahim Yildirim finishing off the surge with a pair of three-pointers.

The closest Spain would get the rest of the way was at 72-69 with 5:42 remaining after a made three-pointer from Luis Parejo, but Yildirim, a 1.83m guard, made his third long-range shot of the night immediately after to restore a six-point advantage.

Spain shot themselves in the foot at the free throw line where they sank a mere 17 of 28 (60%) on the night. Turkey also struggled from the charity stripe (13 of 23 for 56.5%) but still prevailed.

Pablo Aguilar of Spain and Turkey's Dogus Balbay each had 22 points to top the scoring charts.

Turkey will now take on France, who beat Lithuania 76-73 in the other semi-final.
