|Moves from U16 to U20: Harald Stein|
The German Basketball Federation (DBB) have announced on their website that Harald Stein is taking over the U20 men's team ahead of the U20 European Championship.
When Frank Menz took over Germany's senior men's national team last December, it was clear he would not continue as the U20 coach.
The DBB went looking for a replacement, but did not have to go too far before finding the right man for the job.
Stein is no newcomer to the scene, having been in charge of the U16 men's team for the last four summers.
His teams did relatively well in that period, with a fifth place finish last summer being the peak of a steady improvement.
The former Germany international, who was also involved in the youth programme of BEKO BBL side Fraport Skyliners, will be a full-time staff member at the federation, working on the development of the male youth programme.
"We now have to further develop the concept, which was implemented in the last couple of years," commented Stein.
"Together with the other federation coaches, we will develop new ideas to make our players better and better.
"I am very much looking forward to the ongoing cooperation with Frank Menz and Kay Blümel [the U18 men's coach], who I respect a lot."
Stein and his team will meet Georgia, Greece, Lithuania and Serbia in Group A of the U20 European Championship in Tallinn, Estonia in an attempt to go better than last year's fifth place finish.
