Team 2010-11: Power Electronics Valencia (Spain-ACB) Career: Cholet Basket (France-U21 team, 2003-06), Cholet Basket (France-Pro A, 2006-09), Power Electronics Valencia (Spain-ACB, 2009-11)
While nobody really knew Nando De Colo, in 2007, coach Erman Kunter put this young and impetuous combo guard into his starting five, in Cholet, and Nando responded immediately, finishing as the second top scorer in EuroChallenge with 19.3 points per game. He was crowned MVP of the French League 2008 All Star Game and of the Semaine des As won by Cholet in 2009. He then confirmed his impact in 2008-09 by leading Cholet to the final game of EuroChallenge. That was worth a selection in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft by the Spurs. However, San Antonio decided to let him develop in the ACB and that is exactly what Nando has done during the last two seasons in Valencia. Nando will probably spend one more year in Europe to polish his skills as a point guard before joining the Spurs in 2012. He was a bit frustrated at EuroBasket 2009, with the presence of Parker drastically limiting his playing time. He will also be remembered as the guy who hit the last second shot, against Greece, in a game which nobody wanted to win, since it did set up a crazy Quarter-Final game against Spain. |
