Greece international Kostas Kaimakoglou is having a hard time staying out of the spotlight in his homeland. The 2.04m power forward led Maroussi past Olympiacos on Sunday, 82-74, and has been named MVP of Week 15. MVP for the Month of January, Kaimakoglou had 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in Maroussi's 82-74 win over the Reds. The result left both sides 13-2 - just one win behind Panathinaikos at the top of the Greek domestic standings. "For me, the biggest prize is the recognition and respect the team receives from ordinary fans," he said. "And I am glad that all this positive atmosphere is helping us play with even more enthusiasm. I have to insist that an individual title in a team effort reflects the teamwork, but I must express a disagreement. "I would have given the title to Jamon Lucas. He was fantastic, giving us energy on defense and offense while recently playing with discomfort in the foot." Lucas had 14 points, nine assists and five steals against Olympiacos. Thirty-six media representatives took part in the voting for MVP of the Week. Kaimakoglou received 61 points and Lucas was second with 42. |
